A massive manhunt is underway following a shoot-out that left two people shot near downtown Ortonville on Tuesday evening.
Reports from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office indicate that the incident took place around 8 p.m. in the area of 98 Village Court in an apartment complex.
The incident left a man and a woman seriously injured after they were shot in what police are calling a domestic incident before the suspect left the scene.
The two victims included a 33-year-old woman and an unknown age male; they were both transported to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc in critical condition.
"They appeared very serious when they left the scene in ambulances," said Oakland County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Miller.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Michael Quigley of Clarkston. Miller said investigators were not sure whether Quigley was on foot in the area or had been picked up in a vehicle.
The police have also made a request to anyone who has an idea of the whereabouts of Quigley or notices anything suspicious to call 911 immediately.
"He's obviously considered very armed and very dangerous," Miller said.
The massive manhunt was conducted fiercely with several residents reporting helicopters flying overhead. The searchers were deployed around Brandon High School south of the village for a while and farther east along Granger Road.
"We're getting obviously some different calls giving us different information," Miller said. "Nothing has panned out so far. We have a lot of resources out here."
Police were warning residents in the area to remain inside and lock their doors while a search for the alleged gunman continued.
"Right now we're telling everyone to just stay in their homes. Don't come out. Don't be out trying to see what we're doing," Miller said. The search also involved the police K-9 tracking teams who were deployed around the village as part of the search.
He's got that "trust me I'm not going to hurt you or your baby" look about him.
