When legal advice is mentioned in an article alongside a former President of the US, it is time to start paying attention. Yes, dear readers, the number of women that have come forward to accuse 93-year old Bush Senior of groping is now totaling seven.
The latest one, Miss Roslyn Corrigan, was 16 when the former US president grabbed her buttocks as she posed for a photo with him in 2003 at a gathering of CIA officers north of Houston.
Miss Corrigan worked as an intelligence analyst at the time and was at the event with her father and mother. She commented: “My initial action was absolute horror. I was really, really confused.”
“As soon as the picture was being snapped on the one-two-three he dropped his hands from my waist down to my buttocks and gave it a nice, ripe squeeze, which would account for the fact that in the photograph my mouth is hanging wide open. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, what just happened?’”
So far, she had only told her mother but was encouraged to speak out after other women had come forward with similar allegations against Mr Bush.
“I don’t know, maybe it never really hit people that I was a child at the time and that goes beyond a guy being inappropriate in the workplace to a peer or somebody in his age range. I was a child.”
The stories about Bush Sr, who was president from 1989 till 1993, first came to light when television actress Ms Heather Lind said Mr Bush touched her from behind and told a dirty joke while they were posing for a 2014 photo.
Mr Bush apologized through a spokesman since then, stating it was a poor attempt at humor, but allegations kept surfacing since, and this latest one is in very bad taste as it would, if true, involve a minor.
However, lawyers claim that Mr Bush will probably get away with it all. Mr Toby Shook, a lawyer who worked as a prosecutor in Dallas said: “You’re still going to be facing prosecuting a 93-year-old man in a wheelchair that’s a former president. I doubt if you could ever find a jury that would ever want to convict him.”
