George Soros has been interfering with foreign countries. He does that through his NGOs. Six Republican Senators want the State Department to assess the situation. This is because US taxpayer money is being misused by NGOs run by Soros.
The Republicans have given examples of Albania and Macedonia. The Senators sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Their main concern was that US foreign aid is being misused to support left-leaning parties and the progressive agenda in places like Macedonia and Albania.
The Senators also wrote that there has been reports of the US interfering with foreign nations in Africa and Latin America.
The letter was signed by the following Senators Mike Lee (R-Utah), James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), David Perdue (R-Georgia) and Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana).
Senators Mike Lee (R-Utah) said that diplomats have been playing political favorites, NGOs have been supporting violence, and that the US government has been working to destroy the moderates and conservatives who are holding leadership positions.
The Senators gave a good example of the situation in Macedonia. The country is landlocked. The country is going through political crisis.
The letter says that the US Mission has affected the party politics in Macedonia, shaped the media environment and civil society, and often favoring left-leaning groups.
No party in Macedonia has been able to form a majority coalition. Therefore, the country is being run by a caretaker government.
The US has been accused by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski of pushing an alliance between Zoran Zaev’s Social Democratic Union of Macedonia and the ethnic Albanian Democratic Union for Integration.
The Senators said that Soros organizations are promoting specific reforms ahead of the general election in June 18th. The opposition has said that it will boycott because it is unfair.
Soros wrote about the conflict going on in Albania to Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State. He said that his foundation in Tirana was monitoring the situation closely and it could provide an investigation of the conflict.
The letter from the Senators says that the New Trump administration should look at how the tax dollars are being used. This will help in stopping the activities that are causing political disturbance.
The letter also says that the new administration should stop activities that disrespect national sovereignty, the civil society and hence discourage the U.S. from building international relationships that are of benefit.
The Senators want investigations on the funds that promote democracy and governance and review of the programs, accounts, and the diversity of US involvement in such activities.
