A tragic accident occurred Saturday evening in the Grand Canyon after a helicopter crash killed three people. Hualapai Nation police Chief Francis Bradley confirmed three fatalities as a result of a helicopter crash in the Grand Canyon.

The helicopter was a Eurocopter EC130 and the circumstances of the crash are currently unknown, according to the FAA Office of Communications spokesman Allen Kenitzer.
Authorities in the area say that at least seven passengers were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash and three of them have been confirmed dead.
The condition of the remaining passengers is not currently known but Kenitzer described substantial damage to the aircraft. The helicopter was on a tour of the Grand Canyon when it crashed.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash.
