World Cup – Do English Fans Regret Their Premature ‘World Champion 2018’ Tattoos? (Video)

England prepares to take on Belgium for third place at the World cup today in the ‘battle for the bronze’ as it is known. This is, of course, a tad ‘less’ than some British fans had hoped for. After England beat Sweden and went through to the semi-finals of the Russia 2018 tournament, some fans appear to have gotten over-excited and got tattoos that state ‘England World Champion 2018.’

As England lost in the semi-final to Croatia, the press wanted to find out whether they regretted those choices.

For example, superfan Mr Teddy Allen decided to get a tattoo featuring Harry Kane’s face (the top scorer at the World Cup and England captain) captioned with ‘Sir Harry’ underneath and ‘World Cup Winners 2018’. When asked whether he would now get rid of it, Mr Allen, who lives in Staffordshire, claimed: "It is staying for good."

"England have done us proud and if you can't see that then you're not worthy of the Three Lions."

Another fan, Mr Jamie Richardson from Leeds, got his tattoo even earlier after England beat Panama 6-1 in the second group game. He explains: "I rang about 10 tattoo shops trying to find someone to do it so early in the competition and eventually one in Castleford agreed."

"For me it was like a premonition, as if someone said 'get that tattoo Jamie lad and they'll bring that cup home'. I had no doubts whatsoever."

As stated, England will play Belgium today in the ‘small final’ for third place. Both teams emerged from the same group and played each other already with B-teams as they had both qualified for the knockout stages having won their first two group games. During that game, both tried famously to lose as they knew whoever won would have to go up against then still favourite Brazil in the quarterfinals.

Belgium won 1-0 and went on to beat Japan and Brazil respectively before being knocked out by France in the semi-final.

England meanwhile knocked out Colombia after penalties and beat Sweden to reach the semi-final. They lost theirs to Croatia after overtime.

Tomorrow the final will be played between France and Croatia to decide who will be World Champion for the next four years.
