UK – Tommy Robinson Freed After Court Of Appeal Win

Justice prevailed today as far-right activist Mr Tommy Robinson was freed from jail after winning an appeal against a contempt of court finding.

Mr Robinson, whose arrest and subsequent jailing without trial, has aroused many protests all across the UK, will be freed later this afternoon from Onley Prison, near Rugby.

The Court of appeal Chief Justice Lord Burnett admitted there had been technical flaws by the judge who jailed him and therefore quashed the finding today, resulting in an immediate release of Mr Robinson.

Lord Burnett stated in his written summit: "we are satisfied that the finding of contempt made in Leeds following a fundamentally flawed process, in what we recognise were difficult and unusual circumstances, cannot stand. We will direct that the matter be reheard before a different judge."

In May of this year, Mr Robinson received a 13-month jail term as he stood outside of Leeds Crown Court during a trial and commented on the ruling via social media.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">HUGE NEWS: Tommy Robinson wins his appeal! He will be home today! His contempt conviction in Leeds is thrown out; that matter will be re-heard. Attending that new hearing is his only condition of bail. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/FreeTommy?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#FreeTommy</a></p>&mdash; Ezra Levant 🇨🇦 (@ezralevant) <a href="https://twitter.com/ezralevant/status/1024589509978152961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 1, 2018</a></blockquote>

Mr Robinson’s lawyer was very pleased with the result, claiming: "the rule of law and right to a fair hearing are fundamental to every individual and this ruling is an example of the safeguards of our system. What makes the British system so unique is the ability to set aside personal feelings and deal with the law and each case on its merits."

Many social commenters like Mr Geert Wilders, leader of the nationalist PVV in Holland, reacted happily to the news.

I guess the Judge wanted Free Hand in running his court his way.

The problem is the Judge is still there after getting nothing more than a pinch on the pinky.

Someone will castrate this judge. I would go so far as to say with the current political climate in Britain, he best hope it's a public humiliation and not what he wished to have happen to Mr. Robinson in prison.

Just a loyal British man, not a far right anything, just a man like many others who desire Britannia to remain British. Run the muslims out of the West
