Cathay Pacific Misspells Own Name On 777 (Video)

Whoever was in charge of a new paint job on an Cathay Pacific aircraft has one job to do. Yet an epic mistake was still made leaving the airline gravely embarrassed.

Photos have emerged showing the letter “F” conspicuously missing on the side of the plane.

The airline tried to make light of the matter and posted a photo of the aircraft in question and wrote: “Oops this livery won’t last long! She’s going back to the shop!”

An engineer from the airline’s sister company, Haeco, admitted the mistake was inexplicable, hinting it could perhaps be deliberate on the part of whoever did it. He said: “The spacing is too on-point for a mishap. We have stencils. Should be a blank gap in between letters if it was a real mistake, I think.”

Even social media users are wondering how that mistake could have escaped the attention not only of whoever did it, but so many others in the airline who could have supervised the matter, and spotted the glaring spelling mistake early on.

It certainly became a source of humorous posts and reactions from many people.

One person hilariously wrote on Twitter about the Cathay Pacific spelling error: “Nobody gives a F anymore, not even the painters!”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">incredible. Other gave their reactions as well.

The Hong Kong-based carrier certainly gets an F for spelling on this one, but maybe an A for humor.

There is no way that is a mistake. Gross incomptence is one possible explanation. Whoever was involved in this deserves to be not only fired but blacklisted so they never work again in this field.
