A 23-year-old man horrifically fell 75-feet from a cliff in Menifee County on Saturday night. Search and rescue teams were organized but they only managed to come in until 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
Search and rescue crews say the man was first trapped in between two rocks before he fell. The accident happened off Amos Ridge Road near Frenchburg.
Neighbors of the man share that they sprung to quick action when they realized that the man they refer to as Dakota, a father of three, had fallen off the cliff on Saturday.
A neighbor, Christy Pargen said to local media: “We heard everything, and my son came out with a spotlight to help them look for him.”
The man’s friends and family praised the dedication of first responders and the Powell County Search and Rescue team. They feel that the outcome for the victim could have been tragic if not for the efforts of those who rescued him.
Local media reports say the victim was flown from the scene and brought to a local hospital. The man’s condition remains unclear, although neighbors said they heard he’s okay. Authorities have yet to release his full identity. His story of survival and the rescue operation, however, are amazing.
