Man Riding Out Hurricane Irma On A Post And More Idiotic Stunts

Instead of thinking about their safety, some Florida residents are thinking about fame and fortune through idiotic stunts involving Hurricane Irma. One man plans to ride out the hurricane tied to post, that's right, a post. If that doesn't scream 'strike me' to lighting I don't know what else does, that's assuming he doesn't drown in the flood water. A confused anchorman interviews the daredevil and asks, "Excuse me, sir, why are you out here?" He responds barely able to be heard over the increasing winds, "I’m testing this out. I’m actually doing a stunt. It sounds crazy, but there’s a meaning behind it. I’m tying myself to a post down on Meridian for the duration of the hurricane. It’s all planned out with safety precautions and everything."

People on Twitter were eager to point out the obvious stupidity in his plan.

Another reporter found a whole family who wasn't evacuating, when asked why one of the kids said because,

"We are savages."

<blockquote class="twitter-video" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">&quot;why aren&#39;t u evacuating?&quot;<br><br>&quot;we&#39;re savages&quot; 😭😭 <a href="https://t.co/ifFUH2wCAM">pic.twitter.com/ifFUH2wCAM</a></p>&mdash; ifs (@somalijawn) <a href="https://twitter.com/somalijawn/status/906564631392669696">September 9, 2017</a></blockquote>

One of the more bizarre things a person was filmed doing in the hurricane was wind surfing. A windsurfer rode the thrashing waves at Delray Beach in Palm Beach County Friday morning.

Among the more idiotic people was this man in Key West, Florida who said he was going to ride out the hurricane in a store front on Duval Street.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I really hope this gentleman isn&#39;t serious when he says he&#39;s going ride out Hurricane Irma in a store front on Duval Street <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/mh?src=hash">#mh</a> <a href="https://t.co/meJX2TTGuV">pic.twitter.com/meJX2TTGuV</a></p>&mdash; David Ovalle (@DavidOvalle305) <a href="https://twitter.com/DavidOvalle305/status/906565286048002048">September 9, 2017</a></blockquote>

One person on Twitter, summed up this idea in three words.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Thinning the herd.</p>&mdash; Mike Pomeranz (@mikepomeranz) <a href="https://twitter.com/mikepomeranz/status/906595366769909760">September 9, 2017</a></blockquote>

Please do not stay in areas where there are mandatory evacuations, you can be killed. You are being very selfish by putting rescue operators lives at risk when you need to be rescued.
