Milwaukee Mother Bound 4-year-old Son With Autism Before Burning Him Alive

It takes a despicable human being to tie up a mentally challenged 4-year-old with belts and set them on fire, but that is exactly what Amelia Di Stasio did. Di Stasio, 24, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after she brutally tortured and murdered her own 4-year-old son, Antonio Di Stasio, on September 28th.

A criminal complaint was made around 7:30 a.m. on September 28th when the Milwaukee Fire Department was dispatched to Di Stasio's home at 17th and Grant when someone reported "smoke" coming from the home. Firefighters forced entry into her home, apartment #2, and located where the smoke was coming from. Firefighters observed smoke coming from the stove and a pile of clothing in the bathtub. Firefighters then found the lifeless body of young Antonio Di Stasio, his hands were bound behind his back with several belts and a garbage bag was placed over his head. The boy's body was completely burned with the help from an accelerant.

Firefighters observed a pet guinea pig drowned in its cage next to the bathtub and a bottle of canola cooking oil next to the sink. Di Stasio was not home at the time and police responded shortly to the scene. Police spoke to a neighbor at the apartment complex who said the victim and his mother moved in two months ago and "wasn’t friendly and kept to herself." The same witness also described how the day before she overheard Antonio say, "Please, Mommy. Stop! I won’t do it again." Then she heard Amelia shout "Shut up." The next day the witness heard "a banging noise" coming from Di Stasio's apartment.

The autopsy found seven belts were used to secure Antonio Di Stasio's hands and arms to his sides and a plastic bag was tied around his head. The autopsy also noted "significant charring to the majority of his body." Google searches for "how do cannibals die" and "how to kill a cannibal" were later found made from Amelia Di Stasio's phone. Di Stasio also visited an online message board dedicated to a "horror survival game" where players fight cannibals and suggested the best way to kill one was to "kill it with fire."
