Video - Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers Shine In Final Concert

At the end of a wonderful evening, just as the public got ready to say a final goodbye to legendary countryman Kenny Rogers, they were brought to tears when Dolly Parton spoke of her adoration for the singer: “I know I’m artificial, but I like to think my heart is real,” and then she serenaded him with “I Will Always Love You." "I have a spot (in my heart) for you that’s never ever going to be touched by anybody else."

The Bridgestone Arena in Nashville was packed to see Mr. Rogers go out with a bang in the final song of his “All In For The Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration”, which of course closed off with their wonderful duet ‘Islands in the Stream’.

Mr. Rogers’ final act was a mic-drop together with lifelong friend Ms. Parton before they walked off to the stage holding hands.

Kenny Rogers’ music career runs well over 60 years during which he recorded more than 30 studio albums, of which 24 songs turned into number one hits. He won three Grammys and was included into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. In a poll from People, he was voted the "Favorite Singer of All Time".

His greatest hits included "The Gambler," "Lucille," and "Islands in the Stream."

The whole evening was a presentation of Mr. Rogers’ friends and allies as artists from far and wide joined in. Lionel Richie came on stage to sing “Lady” for his longtime friend Rogers whilst Chris Stapleton covered another one of his greatest hits, “The Gambler.”

Lionel Richie said of him meeting Rogers for the first time: “At that moment, I had a person to be my mentor because he was also in a group then transitioned to a solo act. He answered every question I had. So, he’s very special.”
