A toddler in Michigan was able to gain access to a handgun and shot two 3-year-olds with the weapon. The caretaker responsible for the children was a woman operating an under the table day care in a Dearborn, a suburb of Detroit. One of the victims was shot in the shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery according to Dearborn Police.

The second victim was struck by the same bullet when it apparently passed through the first toddler and struck the second. Both are in stable condition and the second is also expected to recover. According to the Dearborn Police, the toddler "accessed a handgun and the weapon discharged" in the house of Samantha Eubanks. The woman was clearly running a daycare and even owned the type of van required for such a job which sat in her driveway. The homeowner's sister also lives at the home and told reporters that her sister is the mother of six children and cares for them deeply.

Ashley Escobedo, 30, said "She loves all these children just as well as her own."
She added, "She would always say, 'don't you ever bring a gun in this house, it's not gonna happen'." A neighbor said that many guns were seized from the home, "We watched crime scene people leave and they carried cases of guns and a safe and everything out of there." The shooting is under investigation and no one has been charged at this time.
