Ted Nugent is under fire after sharing an article on Facebook that alleges an outspoken survivor of the Parkland, Florida shooting is a crisis actor coached to push for gun control. The Michigan rocker is an outspoken conservative and was one of President Donald Trump's strongest supporters during his campaign.
The video has gained the attention of the world after it was uploaded to YouTube and shared immensely becoming the #1 trending video on the platform. The video has since been removed by YouTube which shows a California news broadcast from summer 2017 where Hogg describes how a friend of his got into an argument with a lifeguard on the beach.
Hogg is a student journalist and was reportedly 16 at the time the video was filmed. He said he started filming when his friend and the lifeguard got into an altercation and shared the video on his own YouTube channel where it was viewed hundreds of times before attracting the attention of a local CBS channel which then aired the segment on the fight.
There are also photos of Hogg visiting CNN prior to the shooting in Parkland, Florida. Another video shows Hogg rehearsing his lines for a CNN report where he uses strong anti-gun language to push the liberal agenda.
The photos of his close ties to CNN, video of previous news reports featuring Hogg, and the clip showing him rehearsing anti-gun propaganda culminated into a conspiracy theory that garnered enough attention to end up in Ted Nugent's newsfeed. The video was uploaded by a user who called himself Mike M. and he labeled the video 'David Hogg THE ACTOR'.
One of The Goldwater's own writers covered the video and it's implications extensively. The criticism and attention over the controversial videos prompted Hogg to respond in interview on, you guessed, CNN.
After removing the video 'David Hogg THE ACTOR', YouTube released a statement saying their algorithm should never have let the video reach trending status and did not detect that it was "CBS material which had been reproduced in a harmful way."
YouTube went on to say, "This video should never have appeared in Trending. Because the video contained footage from an authoritative news source, our system misclassified it. As soon as we became aware of the video, we removed it from Trending and from YouTube for violating our policies. We are working to improve our systems moving forward."

Nugent is a National Rifle Association board member, an organization that was recently targeted by the #twitterpurge Wednesday. Nugent also gained negative attention for 'liking' a comment to the post about Hogg on Facebook that said, "He is NOT a student! He is a 26-year-old crisis actor." Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon called Nugent "vile and disgusting" for "pushing the disgusting and harmful conspiracy theory."
Attorney General Bill Schuette also announced he would reject any endorsement from the rocker, "In baseball, it's three strikes and you're out. In real life, if you play ball with Bill Schuette like his pal Ted Nugent, it doesn't matter who you take a swing at - your country, underage girls, or the courageous students taking a stand-in Parkland."
"Ted Nugent is an embodiment of the sickness and hate it takes for someone to attack innocent students standing up for their friends whose lives were taken. We know that Bill Schuette doesn't care about Terrible Ted's draft dodging or alleged pedophilia. However, if Schuette has even an ounce of decency, he will finally take this opportunity to condemn Nugent by rejecting his endorsement."
