In the midst of US President Trump tweeting about the incoming ‘caravan’ of Honduras immigrants which is receiving a free pass from Mexican security forces apparently, the presidential election season started in the US’ southern neighbour, with the left’s leading candidate, Mr Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, striking immediately a nationalistic tone in his opening speech, symbolically given near the US-Mexican border.

Mr Obrador said that should the Mexican people allow him to become president in the July 1 election, he would immediately rise up against everything US President Donald Trump stands for, much more so than anything that the current ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is doing.
"Mexico and its people will not be the piñata of any foreign government."
"It's not with walls or use of force that you resolve social problems."
He furthermore criticized current Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto for his export-focused economic policies which he claimed only benefited the rich and promised to build up Mexico's internal markets.
His speech came at the same time when US President Donald Trump threatened once again to cancel the North American Free Trade Agreement among Mexico, Canada and the United States as long as illegal immigrants find their way to the US border.
Mr Trump stated: "Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border."
His supporters at the rally mostly liked that Mr Obrador speaks harshly against US President Donald Trump. 32-year-old Mr Abelardo Ochoa: "I liked that he said we won't be Trump's servants, nobody has said it like that."
"We work so hard here to earn well, but you cross the border and it's something else."
