Sweden’s PostNord company has informed its customers that they would no longer service certain Malmö areas as they are now deemed ‘too dangerous’.
Asked for a reaction by the Swedish newspaper SVT, the company explained that the risk of robbery and assault is simply too high.

Ms. Sylvia Ziegler, who lives in the Augustenborg area, next to Malmö’s ‘multicultural problem’ area Seved said: “We are not all criminals here, what happens next; will the ambulance not come if I get a heart attack?”

PostNord’s Regional Manager, Ms. Anita Nilsson, says “the risk of a chauffeur with a package is greater than that of a postman; it is about robbery and assault. The manager has a safety and health responsibility and that is what this is all about”.

In Malmö, five murders and six further shootings over the past 17 days have been blamed on a feud between rival gangs.

The normally tranquil Scandinavian nation has seen a rise in violent crime in recent years, a phenomenon that has preoccupied voters ahead of a September 9 general election in which the far-right now occupies the first spot of the polls.

PostNord is a really bad service when it comes to postal delivery where the governmental postal service is actually better. So I don't think they've will be missed in those dangerous areas.
