MacAfee’s Backafee! Cybersecurity Renegade Speaks on Blockchain and Against Google

Cybersecurity pioneer and larger than life figure, John MacAfee has found his way back into the news. In case you’re not familiar, MacAfee is the founder of the MacAfee antivirus and actually the father of anti-virus software in general. Around 5 years ago he found himself embroiled in an investigation for murder in Belize.

Since then, far from keeping a low profile, John even threw his name in the hat for the Libertarian party ticket despite losing out to Gary “What’s Aleppo” Johnson. In late July he claimed via Twitter an attempt had been made on his life. “Someone attempted to off me. If you consider this petty, then I ask the opportunity to explain the facts of life to you,” he tweeted the day after his wife issued a grave warning to whoever it was who attempted to squeeze out the renegade tech billionare.

The Hill’s headlines proclaim an “alleged” attempt on his life, which, considering he has admitted faking a heart attack in Guatemala to escape extradition to Belize during the murder investigation. Fresh from the latest attempts on his life, MacAfee has made a splash expressing his viewpoints on “the Bitcoin bubble,” or rather that Bitcoin is not a bubble. MacAfee has claimed that within the next 5 years BTC will reach $500,000. Interesting to note, this would be excellent news for MGT (MacAfee Global Technologies) considering John said back in May the coming Bitcoin boom would put MGT Capital “back in the black.”

MacAfee: Bitcoin Not A Bubble

MacAfee spoke with Russia Today in favor of bitcoin arguing that:

“These temporary fluctuations are meaningless created by speculators and people who do not understand the fundamental technology of the blockchain. Those who do know that in the long term these fluctuations will make no difference. The more people use bitcoin the more valuable it will become. This is the only metric we can use.”

In addition to advocating for Bitcoin and blockchain, John MacAfee, just last month threw down the gauntlet against Google. The software giant offers another of his trademark bold forecasts claiming that the “total loss of our privacy and human dignity” could come about as a result of Google’s invasive, privacy eroding practices.

MacAfee’s anti-hacking device “Sentinel” aims to take on Google. A switch in Sentinel would disallow Google’s spiders (or “web-crawlers”) to access and index data which could potentially defang the search giant.
