The waters of the Atlantic have become a graveyard for Africa’s desperate. Once again, a ghost boat has washed ashore—this time in the Caribbean near Canouan Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Onboard were 11 decomposing bodies, their identities reduced to faded Malian passports and unanswered questions. This is not an isolated tragedy. It is part of a growing pattern of death and desperation fueled by reckless migration incentives and failed border policies in Europe and the Americas.
The vessel, a 45-foot floating coffin, was discovered on May 26, 2025. Local authorities are now working with international partners to determine how it drifted more than 6,000 kilometers from West Africa. But the real question—the one no politician dares ask—is: *why does this keep happening?*
This is just the latest horror. In January, 19 more dead bodies were found off St. Kitts and Nevis, again believed to be West African migrants. In 2021, a similar death boat from Mauritania was discovered near Trinidad and Tobago. These aren’t coincidences—they’re consequences.
For years, European nations, particularly Spain, have projected a mixed message: “Do not come,” followed by promises of resettlement, welfare, and protection for those who do. This hypocrisy breeds false hope. Smugglers and desperate migrants take deadly chances, believing the West will ultimately reward their risk. The result: bodies adrift in the Atlantic, corpses piling up on idyllic beaches, and a migration crisis that no one has the political courage to solve.
This carnage is not only an African tragedy—it is a Western failure. The open border ideologues in Brussels, Madrid, and Washington bear direct responsibility for luring migrants into an illusion of safety and sanctuary. Their policies don’t save lives—they end them.
Until the global West reverses course, imposes firm border controls, and ends the perverse incentives encouraging these fatal journeys, more lives will be lost—silently, anonymously, and pointlessly—beneath the waves.
