The 1st Amendment ensures free speech, expression, our right to boycott and protest as well as freedom of religion. The thing about freedom of religion is, as important as it is, the separation of church and state and freedom from religion are equally important. As is, there was nothing stopping students or teachers from praying in schools but now the door is open for people (of whatever belief system) to lead students in religious practices. Public schools should be free from religious and ideological indoctrination and focus on the business of teaching kids and preparing them for their future. Opening the door for allowing school or staff sponsored religious rituals may backfire.
