Biden Admin Unveils New Global War On Russia's RT News

Washington has escalated its relentless campaign against Russia's state-funded English language broadcaster, RT, to a global level, urging all nations to block its broadcasts and shut down its offices. This aggressive move appears to be yet another attempt by certain factions within the U.S. government to stoke tensions with Russia, inching the world closer to unnecessary conflict.

Back in 2022, after being branded a foreign agent by the U.S. government—a label that led major platforms to drop its programming—RT America's offices were shuttered, effectively expelling the network from the country. Now, the Biden administration has unveiled a new initiative aiming to portray RT as a participant in "malign global intelligence and influence operations."

The State Department claims to have intelligence suggesting Russian spies are deeply embedded within RT worldwide. "Thanks to new information, much of which originates from RT employees, we know that RT possessed cyber capabilities and engaged in covert information and influence operations and military procurement," Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced.

U.S. officials allege that Russian intelligence utilized RT to crowdfund military gear. "Under the cover of RT, information produced through this unit flows to Russian intelligence services, Russian media outlets, Russian mercenary groups, and other state and proxy arms of the Russian government," Blinken stated.

These alleged crowdfunding activities supposedly facilitated the transfer of "sniper rifles, suppressors, body armor, night vision equipment, drones, radio equipment, personal weapon sights, diesel generators" to Russian units fighting in Ukraine.

The administration asserts it wants to diminish RT's global operations and hopes to convince allies—from Latin America to Europe to Asia—that it poses a 'threat' to democracy. However, this aggressive stance raises questions about who truly benefits from escalating hostilities and whether it's a calculated move to distract from domestic issues.

CNN, the first to report on the new State Department initiative, included a notably sarcastic response from RT:

Asked for comment by CNN, RT responded with a mocking email that read in part: "We’ve been broadcasting straight out of the KGB headquarters all this time."

The timing of this major anti-RT campaign is highly suspicious, coinciding with the lead-up to the upcoming presidential election. It appears that certain political actors are eager to resurrect old 'Russiagate' narratives against opponents, using foreign interference warnings to manipulate public perception. This includes the usual allegations about China and Iran supposedly meddling in significant ways.

By amplifying these claims now, there's a palpable sense that some are attempting to instigate unnecessary conflict with Russia for political gain. Such actions not only risk international stability but also undermine the democratic process by exploiting foreign policy as a tool for electoral advantage.
