A shocking Facebook post from a Springfield, Ohio community has raised concerns after a local resident reported disturbing incidents involving missing pets and wildlife. The resident shared a chilling account from her neighbor, whose daughter’s friend had lost her cat. After a long search, the cat was reportedly found hanging from a tree in a neighbor’s yard, allegedly being carved up for food by a Haitian family.
The post warned, “My neighbor informed me that her daughter's friend came home from work and saw her cat hanging from a branch, being carved like you’d butcher a deer.” The resident also claimed that other animals, including dogs, ducks, and geese, had been similarly targeted, with reports from park rangers and police corroborating such acts in Snyder Park.
The Haitian Report explains that the consumption of cats is a tradition in Haitian culture, dating back to the time of slavery, when runaway slaves would hunt and eat wild cats. The report emphasized that the practice is rooted in tradition rather than hunger, comparing it to a cultural delicacy.
Amid growing concerns, Springfield residents voiced their frustrations at a City Commission meeting, accusing officials of ignoring the issue. One resident described seeing migrants "grabbing ducks by their necks, decapitating them, and eating them." The influx of migrants has reportedly strained local resources and heightened tensions in the town of 60,000 people.
