Scotland Still Wants to Leave The UK

While the British are preparing for the U.K. to leave the European Union (EU), Scotland is demanding for Scottish independence vote to be held either late 2018 or early 2019. The citizens will vote if they want Scotland to remain part of the United Kingdom, or if they wish to separate from it.

The United Kingdom is made up of countries England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Sturgeon said that the vote is the only way for her country to have a say in its own future, after the terms for Brexit are known.

British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to start the two-year process of taking the U.K. out of the EU. More Scots voted against Brexit last year, while Brexit won in England in a close fight between pro-Brexit and anti-Brexit citizens.

Sturgeon wants Scotland to talk separately with the EU about deals. Teresa May is against Sturgeon's idea.

An independence vote was held in Scotland in 2014. Scots voted to stay in the U.K. by 55-45 percent. The vote made Sturgeon more popular.

London is also against the Scottish leaving the U.K. since it won’t be good for the U.K.'s economy. The U.K. is the fifth largest economy in the world.
