NYT Magazine Slams Trump Immigration Policy - Using Picture From Obama Era

Several liberal voices (New York Times Magazine Editor In Chief Mr. Mark Silverstein, Obama Speechwriter Mr. Jon Favreau, and activist Ms. Linda Sarsour) criticized the Trump administration immigration policy with a picture of children sleeping in enclosed cages and linked it to the current zero-tolerance policy toward parents and children crossing the border illegally.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">A lot of big names are sharing this article from 2014, but they didn’t say a word back when it actually happened under Obama.<br><br>• Linda Sarsour - Women’s March co-founder<br>• Jon Favreau - Obama’s speechwriter<br>• Jake Silverstein - NYT Magazine editor-in-chief <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Caleb Hull (@CalebJHull) <a href="">May 27, 2018</a></blockquote>

The only problem was that commenters were quick to point out that those pictures originated from an Arizona Central story back in 2014 when Mr. Barack Obama was president. Auch.

Former Obama speechwriter Mr. Jon Favreau: “This is happening right now, and the only debate that matters is how we force our government to get these kids back to their families as fast as humanly possible.”

When users pointed out to him that the pictures originated during the era of his former boss, he quickly deleted his words.

Ms Linda Sarsour, the Muslim activist and the co-author of the Women’s March, still has the tweets on her feed though:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Take a look at these photos. <a href=";ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WhereAreOurChildren</a> <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) <a href="">May 27, 2018</a></blockquote>

<script async src="" charset="utf-8"></script>

The New York Times Magazine Editor, Mr. Jake Silverstein, blamed a busy schedule on him wrongfully re-tweeting the pictures and admitted afterward that the pictures he had tweeted earlier were “only indirectly related to the current situation”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I saw this photo floating around and didn’t know if it was real. <br><br>It is. <br><br>Children of immigrants are being held in cages, like dogs, at ICE detention centers, sleeping on the floor. It’s an abomination. <br><br>FULL STORY: <a href=""></a> <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Shaun King (@ShaunKing) <a href="">May 27, 2018</a></blockquote>

<script async src="" charset="utf-8"></script>

Liberal activist Shaun King also re-tweeted the pictures, pretty much at the same moment he shared in criticizing First Daughter Ivanka Trump for showing a picture of her and her son whilst ‘your father ripped their children away’.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">.<a href="">@IvankaTrump</a>, you are lucky to hold your son while 1500 mothers cannot, because your father ripped their children away under a vicious policy that he created. <br><br>Ivanka, <a href=";ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WhereAreTheChildren</a>? <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Paola Mendoza (@paolamendoza) <a href="">May 27, 2018</a></blockquote>
