Video: Hatch Lays Down The Law In Shouting Match Over Tax Bill

As House Republicans passed a $5.5 trillion tax bill in a major victory for the administration of President Donald Trump, Senators were already involved in some serious debating on the issue.

Senator Orin Hatch of Utah, whom everyone had already written off with former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney openly angling for his seat should Mr Hatch decide to throw in the towel at the end of the year, let out a highly unusual critique of the Democratic opposition when he rebuffed Senator Franks.

Senator Hatch said: “I come from the poor people, and I’ve been here working my whole stinking career for people who don’t have a chance, and I resent everybody who’s saying we’re just doing this for the rich, and frankly, you ought to quit it.”

“I get kind of sick and tired of it.”

“I come from the lower middle class originally, so don’t spew that stuff on me. I get a little tired of that crap. If we worked together we could get this country out of every mess it is in.”

“I’ve got more bills passed than everybody on this committee put together and they have been passed for the benefit of people in this country.”

“This bullcrap, that you guys pull out here really get old.”

If this is laying the preparatory groundwork for the discussion that is to follow when the actual vote will go down on the Senate floor, we sure can’t wait to see it.

The tax bill has passed 227-205 in the house with not a single Democrat backing it, highlighting the sharp partisan divide as the tax fight will shortly move to the narrowly-divided Senate. Hatch was simply preparing the troops apparently for what will surely go down the wire.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the house, Republican Paul Ryan stated: "This is about giving hardworking taxpayers bigger paychecks, more take-home pay… It's about getting this economy to grow faster, so we get bigger wages, more jobs, and we put America in the driver's seat in the global economy one again."
