The Brooklyn based Muslim family of Akayed Ullah, the 27-year-old green-card holder from Bangladesh who tried to blow up a pipe bomb in the New York Port Authority bus station yesterday, claims that they are ‘outraged’ of the treatment they have since received from authorities.
After his arrest, Ullah was driven to Bellevue Hospital where he could be treated for his injuries. Law enforcement afterward started questioning him and have now released their first results.
Mr. Ullah confessed to plotting the attack in retribution for the actions of Israel against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying he was 'disgruntled' at the way his fellow Muslims were being treated.

He had learned how to make explosives online and constructed the bomb about a week ago. It is so far unclear whether he put the bomb together in the apartment where he lived with his father mother and brother (in a residential area of Brooklyn with a large Bangladeshi community) or at the electrical company where he works with his brother. He used to work as a taxi driver but lost his license in 2015 apparently, according to law enforcement officials and NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission.
He at first arrived in the country from Bangladesh on an F-4 visa, available to those with family in the US, around seven years ago. Police officers were searching an address linked to Mr Ullah in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn.

One neighbor in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Windsor Terrace said she had not seen him in months but described his home as quiet and observant in Islamic customs. She stated that at first sight there was no immediate evidence of extremism.
Mr. Ullah wanted to make it clear he was ‘inspired by ISIS, not Al Qaeda.’
