Known Thug Armed with a Gun ‘Ambushes’ Charlotte Police Headquarters and Opens Fire on Officers

Law enforcement in Charlotte, North Carolina is in both disbelief and utter astonishment after a known criminal came charging into the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters brandishing a gun before opening fire on Officers in what's being described as a deadly “ambush”.

Investigators say that the gunman, 23-year-old Jonathan Bennett; was already a suspect in an unrelated case where he murdered his girlfriend on Thursday night.

In that case, authorities found the deceased woman who they say was killed via multiple gunshots dead in her apartment on Carlyle Drive; which then prompted an Amber Alert for their two-month-old daughter, only to eventually have the child located safe and sound.

Then on Friday, the CMPD had placed an all-points-bulletin out for Bennett, having described him as being a heavyset black male with the word “king” tattooed on his neck, weighing in at around 210 pounds and standing at 5’8” tall with black hair and brown eyes; as well as driving an older model white Ford Expedition with New York license plates HUP-3071.

To the best of the efforts of CMPD they were unable to locate Bennett, but soon Bennett himself would be coming directly for them, in what would become a horrific scene of chaos at the Police Headquarters, according to WSOC TV.

Just as officers were standing outside of Headquarters for a briefing on a separate case, an SUV sped into the parking lot squealing tires, immediately drawing officer's attention.

To their shock, Bennett jumped out of the vehicle and pulled a firearm, shooting at a total of eight Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers; directly in their headquarters parking lot.

Chief Kerr Putney, “As they were briefing out in the parking lot the suspect, the homicide suspect from earlier today that we had been looking for in a white SUV, pulled in and basically ambushed our officers.”

One female officer was hit by Bennett’s gunfire, but officer immediately filled the nasty criminal savage full of lead as he hit the ground in a hail of gunfire.

Emergency medical responders would transport Bennett to a nearby hospital where he would later die as a result of his injuries; saving the taxpayers the burden of paying for his trial and inevitable incarceration.

The injured female officer, Casey Shue has become one of CMPD’s most admirable up-and-coming females on the force. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she's expected to make a full recovery after surgery.

Shue was hired on July 21st, 2014, and is assigned to the North Tryon Division Crime Reduction Unit. She was recognized as officer of the month this past August, for her efforts to keep the Hidden Valley neighborhood safer. That area of northeast Charlotte fought for years to successfully rid itself of a violent street gang known as the Hidden Valley Kings.

When Shue was honored in August, CMPD officials noted she initiated 198 traffic stops, resulting in the seizure of six guns and the arrest of 22 people. Six of those arrested were accused of felonies.

It's unfortunate that this lowlife piece of human garbage Bennett’s bullets hit such a brazen and brave police officer, but on the positive side; the world will no longer be tormented by his behavior.
