Mr Ahmed al Darbi, a 42-year-old former Al-Qaida operative who turned snitch for the US, is living like a king at the Guantánamo Bay prison. If reports are to be believed, the once devout Muslim now eats strawberry Oreos, gets rabbit dinners and watches episodes of the sit-com “Arrested Development.”

The Al-Qaida operative, who’s failed operation of trying to blow up an oil-tanker once served as an inspiration for a side-story of the movie Syriana (Mr al Darbi pleaded guilty to being an accomplice in a 2002 Al-Qaida attack on a French oil tanker in Yemeni waters), about the US’s involvement in the Middle East, has received a personal laptop and DVDs of the American sit-com“Arrested Development,” starring Portia de Rossi and Jason Bateman, which streams on Netflix.

He hated the detainees, the media, detainees&#39; lawyers and anyone who questioned him, including folks at DOD. <a href="https://t.co/reSLCTUhrN">pic.twitter.com/reSLCTUhrN</a></p>&mdash; Jason Leopold (@JasonLeopold) <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonLeopold/status/962879425082609665?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 12, 2018</a></blockquote>

Further to all these luxury items, ever since agreeing to a plea bargain and snitching on his fellow Al-Qaida operatives, Mr al Darbi was given Rosetta Stone software to learn English, a PlayStation 3 and oil paints.

Mr al Darbi comes from a resourceful family as his brother in-law, Mr Khalid al-Mihdhar hijacked a plane that was flown into the Pentagon on 9/11.

Back in 2002 and 2003, before he switched to cooperation, he was beaten, sleep deprived, hung by the wrists and threatened with rape. Soldiers made him undergo unwanted rectal exams, kept him in the nude whilst forcing him to empty other detainees’ feces buckets with his fingers.
