Mr Steve Bannon, the former White House Chief Strategist, gave a speech in front of a sold out crowd of 1,500 in Zurich, Switzerland earlier this week, where he had travelled after having spent the weekend in Italy, celebrating the populist rise and win of both the anti-immigration Lega Nord and the anti-establishment 5-Star-Movement.
The former Breitbart founder shared his ideas on economic nationalism and restrictive immigration policies in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

“The populist wave in Europe is not over: it’s just getting started. History is on our side,” Mr Bannon told his audience.
“Look at what’s happening in Poland, in Hungary, in the Czech Republic, in Austria” (in all these countries the nationalist parties now hold power to varying degrees).
“Even in France and Germany. The momentum in the movement continually goes, and now you’re beginning to see a symbiotic relationship. One can feed off the other with messaging.”

The former investment banker praised his Swiss crowd for having decided in 1992 to not join the European Economic Area, something which he believes was the start of the populist rebellion that has been sweeping Europe in the past few years.
He even spoke about the looming trade war with China.
“Not everyone will like the steel tariffs. Information warfare and economic warfare has to be engaged, because that is what’s happening today. No matter what your elites tell you, that’s the reality.”
Mr Bannon will hold further meetings with the German nationalist party AfD.
