Fifth Harmony Splits, Sending Social Media Into A Twitter Storm

The US girl band Fifth Harmony announced today via social media that the group would be splitting to focus on solo careers.

Group members Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui said: “Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X-Factor, we’ve realized just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever.”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Wow, Abu Dhabi!! So much love from you guys, THANK YOU. Also a huge thank you to every single one of you who have been to a show in the past few weeks <a href="https://t.co/ToAFNNAaDl">pic.twitter.com/ToAFNNAaDl</a></p>&mdash; Fifth Harmony (@FifthHarmony) <a href="https://twitter.com/FifthHarmony/status/975055019425914880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 17, 2018</a></blockquote>

“We’ve really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild ride!”

Even though most fans reacted emotionally on social media and said things will never be the same without the girls together, the split doesn’t come as a total surprise given that lead singer Camila Cabello had left two years ago already and since then, Fifth Harmony was unable to reach the same heights as in the first years.

Miss Cabello’s solo album debuted at No. 1 in the US Billboard and brought her a No. 1 hit with “Havana,” making sure that Fifth Harmony would never be seen in the same light without her.

The group will still work off their remaining schedule of shows, all of which will probably sell out

“After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”

“We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find out footing as individuals.”

“In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family.”

“We do have some upcoming shows through the end of the year which will still happen as planned”.
