The DREAM Act, which stands for Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors, was first introduced in 2001. It had support from both Democrats and Republicans in it's earliest form.
Throughout the Obama years, the act was used as a political pity party. "Dreamers" was such a good term to throw around. And who wants to go up against a bunch of poor immigrant children?
One requirement of the DREAM Act is that the applicant "Must be of good moral character."
Fast forward to today when a North Carolina judge finally sentenced two of five Dreamers to 12 years in prison for beating and raping a 17-year-old girl. And, yes, they filmed the entire event.
Feix Reyes, Jhovany Roman and three other juveniles took turns gang-raping and beating the unconscious girl. Prosecutor Kristin Northrup said the victim had injuries on almost every portion of her body.
When they were done, the Dreamers smeared her body with feces and continued to party.
That doesn't sound like good moral character to me. Many lawmakers agree and are drafting legislation to propose sentencing and deportation guidelines for judges who are being swamped with these cases.
