Long-time Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer announces that his cancer has unfortunately returned and that he has only weeks to live.
The pundit shared the sad news in an open letter Friday.

The 68-year-old Krauthammer has been in the hospital fighting complications from a surgery he underwent to remove a cancerous tumor in his abdomen last year. The Fox News commentator added that it causes a “cascade of secondary complications.”
His doctors told him that his cancer has returned, prompting Krauthammer to concede: “This is the final verdict. My fight is over.”

He took the opportunity to thank his colleagues, readers and viewers who he gave credit for having made his career possible and have given consequence to his life’s work. He wrote in his letter: “I believe that the pursuit of truth and right ideas through honest debate and rigorous argument is a noble undertaking. I am grateful to have played a small role in the conversation that has helped guide this extraordinary nation’s destiny.”
Krauthammer is also remembered for winning the 1987 Pulitzer Prize in Commentary for his “witty and insightful columns on national issues” for the Washington Post. He later joined PBS’ Inside Washington before eventually becoming part of Fox News as a political analyst.
Fox News executive chairman Rupert Murdoch gave his reaction in a statement and praised Krauthammer. He said: “Charles has been a profound source of personal and intellectual inspiration for all of us at Fox News.”
Murdoch added: “His always principled stand on the most important issues of our time has been a guiding star in an often-turbulent world, a world that has too many superficial thinkers vulnerable to the ebb and flow of fashion, and a world that, unfortunately, has only one Charles Krauthammer. His words, his ideas, his dignity, his integrity will resonate within our society and within me for many, many years to come.”
