The crime itself is disgusting enough, where he did it that showed such disrespect to the place added to the revolting wrongdoing. A former uniformed Secret Service officer was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday for sending sexually explicit photos of himself to underage girls- all that while he was discharging his duties at the White House.
Lee Robert Moore, 38, of Church Hill, Maryland was previously assigned to protect the White House Complex but while on duty in 2015, he sent indecent materials including his photograph to someone he thought was a teenage girl on the mobile apps Kik and Meet24. He also tried to transfer obscene materials to a minor.
Unknown to Moore, the “girl” he was sending obscene materials to was actually an agent of the Delaware State Police working with the Delaware Child Predator Task Force.
Moore was arrested. After his arrest, investigators discovered that the Secret Service officer had sent sexually explicit messages and images of himself to real underage girls in Florida, Texas, and Missouri, based on the complaint.
Moore was fired by the Secret Service after his arrest in November 2015. His case was heard in the U.S. District Court in Palm Beach County, Florida, so he could also consolidate his guilty pleas. Moore’s wife urged U.S. District Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley in court documents to sentence Moore to the minimum sentence of 10 years.
The wife said that she can honestly say that her husband is still a “genuinely good and decent person”. She added that she is asking the court’s consideration to give her husband the lowest possible sentence for her benefit and that of her children. Moore is a retired Marine and has two children.
Prosecutors, however, countered to judge Hurley that Moore instead should be given a life sentence. They said in their written accounts to the courts that it is particularly galling that Moore himself was an armed guard “at the single most important residence in our constitutional republic, yet he repeatedly used that guard booth to take photos of his penis and send them to underage girls.”
Moore pleaded guilty in March to enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. With his conviction, he must also register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender treatment. Even if he is released, he will have to remain under court supervision for the rest of his life.
