A man thought he could charm anyone with doughnuts, including law enforcement officers. Well, he soon found he was mistaken. Maryland police arrested him despite his “sweet offer” to bribe them with doughnuts.

An officer spotted Matthew Tyler Rosenberg and another man on Thursday suspiciously peering into vehicles for anything worth stealing.

Charging documents state an officer ordered the pair to stop, but Rosenberg ignored the order and walked away. The officer followed the suspect, and a struggle ensued. The officer kneed Rosenberg in the abdomen before he was subdued.

A search of Rosenberg yielded an air pistol and marijuana. Rosenberg then attempted to avoid arrest by offering them doughnuts in exchange for his freedom.

The suspect bragged to the officers that he worked at the popular doughnut store Krispy Kreme.

The officers were predictably unimpressed. Rosenberg was arrested and faces charges including resisting arrest. It is not clear if the doughnut-bribing suspect has a lawyer already.

Rosenberg’s companion was not charged.
