A quote on a school wall in Houston, Texas caught the ire of social media users when it was posted online. The contentious quote has offended many people who described it as “sexist, mysogonistic [sic] and discriminatory.” Despite not knowing how to spell misogynistic, the group's uproar forced the school to immediately address the controversy.
The quote reads: “The more you act like a lady, the more he’ll act like a gentleman.”
It was posted on a wall at Gregory-Lincoln Education Center for the Performing and Visual Arts in the Houston Independent School District.
The Twitter user who triggered the uproar reacted to the quote and said online:
“It's perpetuating horrible gender stereotypes, shaming women, and relinquishing boys of all responsibility."
So-called “social justice warriors” were predictably quick to join the “revolt” @lbeckman started and soon flooded Twitter with their own reactions and opinions.

HISD was compelled to issue a statement on the controversy especially with all the noise going on on social media. It said: “Please be advised that the quote on the wall of Gregory Lincoln PK-5 Education Center has been removed. Overnight, the wall decal letters were taken down, the wall was floated out, and new slab of drywall was installed and painted.”

Well, predictably a social justice warrior and the results of her efforts may have pleased her a lot, with thousands of comments and reactions online.
Other social media users chose to react on the extreme responses of those who got offended, with some saying they already find the comments bordering on the comical. There were mocking views, too.
