President Trump Ends Obama Era Protections For Undocumented Parents (DAPA)

In a major victory for Americans everywhere across this great nation and a victory for legal immigrants who spent years jumping through the loopholes and red tape to obtain citizenship President Trump ends the Obama Era protections for undocumented parents.

On the fifth anniversary of Obama’s signature immigration orders, the Trump administration rescinded a major piece of the policy, ending the deferred deportation of undocumented parents of children who are American citizens or legal residents.

The program in itself never had a chance to gain traction by going into effect due to an appeals court placing a halt on the very implementation of the legislation. It comes as a strong message to the Department of Homeland Security made the announcement, suggesting President Trump intends to follow through with much of his campaign promises for deportations.

Throughout the campaign season President Trump called such policies by Obama effectively ‘amnesty’ and an outright violation of the Constitution and laws already in accordance with what Congress had previously passed into official law. He said time after time that Obama was acting on his own without taking the proper steps to ensure the American people and Congress had a say in the decision-making process regarding illegal immigration.

Trump supporters can applaud this action as another major victory, one that most of the media and pundits within those outlets said Trump would never be able to do in his tenure as President. Not without a fight. He was, however, able to pull this win off without firing a single shot.

DACA however still will exist as Trump hasn't yet decided to implement any change to the administration's stance on that of which previous Presidents have handled the situation. Trump has said on countless occasions that he does have a heart and affecting children is not something he can do with ease.

Trump said in February regarding the notions that, “DACA is a very, very difficult subject for me,” he went on, “You have these incredible kids, in many cases not in all cases. In some of the cases they’re having DACA and they’re gang members and they’re drug dealers too. But you have some absolutely incredible kids; they were brought here in such a way, it’s a very, very tough subject.”

However, the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, often called DAPA, has now been fully eliminated. Adult parents of children who were born here in the United States but their parents violated Federal Law in crossing illegally now will be deported. Such is the laws that are written and they should be respected.

It sends a clear message to an illegal immigrants who have violated the laws of the United States of America and attempted to deplete our already struggling social welfare system. That message remains, you have to go back.
