Police and prosecutors are saying nothing can be done legally after the video surfaced of a group of black teenagers who filmed the dying moments of a 32-year-old disabled man.
The kids can be heard in the video not only mocking the man as he drowned last week, but they were cursing and laughing while the man’s life came to an end in a fenced-off pond.
The Brevard County State Attorney's Office released the video and called the incident a "tragedy" and said the teens' lack of action had "no moral justification" but added that the teens do not appear to have violated any laws.
The video, which police called "extremely disturbing," found its way to various social media platforms over the weekend before ending up in the hands of detectives.
The clip depicts the unidentified teenagers, ranging from the ages 14 to 16, laughing as the man screamed for their help in the distance for help before you can finally witness the man going under the water for the last time, and drowning.
The incident took place just after noon July 9th off Plaza Parkway. There were no calls to 911 from the teens.
