News is now being reported from the White House that both acting Communications Director and official Press Secretary Sean Spicer has formally resigned.
Spicer served as Press Secretary and for President Trump since his inauguration. The majority of Trump’s supporters were fans of Sean Spicer, with President Trump praising his high ratings during press conferences.
President Trump will is reported to select Wall Street financier and longtime Supporter as well as friend Anthony Scaramucci as his the White House communications director, effective immediately.
The majority of the people close to the Trump Administration say the President will appoint the Republican donor to the post left vacant by Mike Dubke. Others are reporting White House chief of staff Reince Priebus wasn’t made aware of the appointment until after the arrangements were finalized.
Anthony Scaramucci is the founder of the global investment firm SkyBridge Capital. It was previously thought the hedge fund manager would be appointed to lead the White House Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs under Trump, but he ended up not taking that position.
Spicer's resignation was confirmed just moments after President Trump met with the likely new appointment for White House Communications Director , Anthony Scaramucci.
For several months there has been intense speculation about Spicer's status with the White House, but it appears now that the appointment of Scaramucci is the final deciding factor.
Reports had suggested Spicer originally was supposed to lead the new communications operation, heading a team of individuals to ensure the press coverage and dealings with the media would run smoothly. Under that structure, the new Communications Director would report to Spicer, which no longer appears to be the case if Scaramucci takes Spicer’s former position.
