The Santa Monica Pier has been shut down and evacuated after serious threats of a bomb possibly being planted on or near the pier raised security to an all time high.
Authorities have urged people to avoid the Santa Monica Pier while a bomb robot begins to perform a forensic search of the surrounding areas.
This comes amidst an increase in nationwide security due to the date being September 11th, when America mourns the fateful day that forever changed our history.
Santa Monica police said that two individual calls came in, one from Culver City, and the other from Hawthorne, regarding bomb threats to the location.
While the pier surrounds both businesses and beachgoers, both have been evacuated as a precaution.
Police said although they haven't found anything significant as of yet they are still focusing on one vehicle in the parking lot that the robot was looking over.
