Chinese Rent-a-Sex-Doll Service Suspended

The Chinese communist party has over the past decade tried (and probably succeeded) to enter their economy slowly into a capitalist structure, complete with stock markets, billionaires, high-rise buildings, booms and busts and the latest fads and gadgets.

However, when it comes to completely copying the Westernized world, there are still some things that the Chinese authorities are not likely to allow any time soon.

This lesson was harshly learnt by Internet development company Touch, which operated an app on the Chinese market that would let you, and we will admit it is a novel idea, rent your own sex doll (the five dolls you see in the pic, including Wonder Woman).

You know, with prices of those things going up as high as 2,000 dollars, there had to come a point when a Lyft or Uber version would come on the market to undercut the big players. It just so happens that the Chinese communist party did find the idea of sex dolls being rented to each other via an app a bit ‘vulgar’ as they put it in their official statement.

Touch had five different sex doll types for rent, either for a day or a week, but quickly its website was loaded with complaints and criticism, mostly from Communist party members.

Just for the sake of completeness of the article, and for those interested, the daily rental price was around 50 dollars.

A Touch spokesman reacted to the offering being taken off the market by the Chinese authorities: “"We prepared ten dolls for the trial operation, but it's really hard in China. Soon after the ‘girlfriend sharing service’ launched, it triggered intensive attention and heated discussion online… We were informed by the relevant authorities and voluntarily cooperate with all the investigations and accept the punishment."

According to the firm their original intention was to simply make expensive silicone dolls more affordable for the general public but it conceded that the service had somehow triggered a heated public debate and it conceded by admitting the Chinese market was clearly not ready for this idea.

Final note: if those are sex dolls, why does Wonder Woman need the shield?
