There are events that we witness in the world and we’re provoked to critically think as to whether the perpetrators of such events have their mental faculties intact. That was the case in Virginia where a man unleashed a lethal attack on his own wife before he committed suicide with a chainsaw.
Police reported that the man attacked his elderly wife with a hatchet and then committed suicide with a chainsaw Wednesday, talk of savagely at its best.
You might be thinking that the attacker was a young or middle-aged adult but that’s not the case. He was a fully-grown man aged 70, while the assaulted wife is 76. The chaos ensued in the foyer of their Springfield home shortly before 3:30 p.m., during a squabble, police revealed.
Authorities revealed that one of the family members arrived at the home during the attack and was unable to open the front door, so she pushed the door in to get a glimpse of what was unfolding inside.
Luckily, the relative was able to rescue the woman and left the home. However, the man followed the pair outside and a struggle ensued over the hatchet.
The two called for help from 911 and the man returned home and locked himself inside. Shockingly, the responding police officers found the man lying in a pool of blood in the garage, with serious injuries from a chainsaw.
The authorities rushed him to an area hospital, but it was too late as the man had already died. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries caused by a hatchet, according to police.
The authorities are yet to release the identities of both the victim and the suspect. “I could see that the lady was really confused and kind of like in shock, and her hands were probably injured, cut,” neighbor Zury Bradcovich told FOX5.
“Then I saw them finding the older gentleman and brought him to the garage, put him on the ground and he was bleeding tremendously from this part of his body. He looked really bad and they worked on him for maybe 10 to 15 minutes, and then they took him away,” the neighbor added.
