The Secretary of Defense James Mattis spent his first full day at the Pentagon by overseeing 31 strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. It’s without a doubt that President Trump’s team is very committed to ensuring that the ISIS threat is eradicated. Various fighters, bombers and remotely piloted aircrafts were engaged in the bombing run which saw 25 strikes in Syria and six in Iraq.

There were two airstrikes that were conducted in Syria and as a result, ISIL units and artillery were destroyed near the town of Bab. Daesh forces that are located in Raqqa where the terrorist group’s stronghold took a heavy beating after 22 strikes destroyed 12 tactical units, nine fighting positions and two underground improvised explosive bomb factories and an ISIS headquarters. Two IS oil wells were the final strike target in Deir ez Zour.

The Iraq Oil Report backed the account after the respected source which is renowned for gathering daily updates on security developments inside Mosul and surrounding ISIS-held areas from a network of local reporters, residents and fighters. ISIS received the heaviest bombardment that they’ve ever received as the dust was settling, the word on the street in Iraq is that the new administration has done what Obama could not have done, or would not have dared do, that being the elimination of the ISIS mastermind Al-Baghdadi.

President Trump’s key campaign pledges was that he would destroy ISIS as quickly as possible. President Trump convened his top Generals on his first day in office and ordered them to provide a plan to eliminate ISIS within 30 days.

Mattis is the new head of Pentagon and as a result, Trump will expect him to act on his plans and make them happen. Mattis criticized Obama for putting in place half measures on the terror group and as a result giving the group some space to thrive. However, Mattis has a solid plan that he’s about to unleash on the terror group and eliminate it within 30 days.
