Charlie Rose, Accused by Eight Women, Suspended from PBS and CBS

||| Redux |||

Charlie Rose, one of the most widely recognized names in media, has now faced new allegations of sexual misconduct that literally shocked the world.

Charlie is known to be one of the more impartial members of the media, historically hosting the Charlie Rose Show on PBS, and in recent years taking on the morning co-host role of “CBS This Morning”.

The Washington Post first broke the story today that Charlie Rose had not only been accused by eight individual females of sexual misconduct, but he admitted to his wrongdoings and apologized for it.

Five of the women allegedly spoke on the condition of anonymity, but three have given full statements.

Charlie Rose, shockingly enough admitted to the events, in some fashion, and offered the following apology:

”In my 45 years in journalism, I have prided myself on being an advocate for the careers of the women with whom I have worked,” Rose said in a statement provided to The Post. “Nevertheless, in the past few days, claims have been made about my behavior toward some former female colleagues.”

“It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.”

“I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will too. All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives.”

Most of the world is stunned by this, in the sense that Charlie Rose was so respected in the industry by both Democrats and Republicans.

I for one have always admired Charlie, even knowing he's had a liberal bias that is very subtle.

In 2007 Reah Bravo was an intern and then associate producer for Rose’s PBS show, “The Charlie Rose Show”, in which she claims to have been a victim of Charlie’s.

“It has taken 10 years and a fierce moment of cultural reckoning for me to understand these moments for what they were,” she told The Washington Post. “He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim.”

Kyle Godfrey-Ryan, a personal assistant to Charlie Rose, said that on several occasions he would walk nude in front of her, inside of one of his many New York City residences.

She went on to describe Charlie Rose calling her and telling her that he had fantasies about her swimming naked in his pool.

“It feels branded into me, the details of it,” Godfrey-Ryan said.

She said she also told Yvette Vega, Rose’s longtime executive producer, about the calls.

“I explained how he inappropriately spoke to me during those times,” Godfrey-Ryan said. “She would just shrug and just say, ‘That’s just Charlie being Charlie.’ ”

Apparently the network and the staff helped hide the fact that Charlie was a sexual predator.

“I should have stood up for them,” said Vega, who has worked along with Charlie Rose since the show was created in 1991. “I failed. It is crushing. I deeply regret not helping them.”

Another woman, Megan Creydt, said that she was a coordinator from 2005 to 2006 for the show.

During that time she alleged Rose inappropriately touched her when she was driving his Mini Cooper.

“It was quite early in working there that he put his hand on my mid-thigh,” said Creydt.

“I don’t think I said anything,” she said. “I tensed up. I didn’t move his hand off, but I pulled my legs to the other side of the car. I tried not to get in a car with him ever again. I think he was testing me out.”

The Washington Post also claims that they spoke to several dozen former employees and six of those confirmed seeing similar events.

Amongst the allegations are that Charlie Rose would grab the females by their buttocks, genitals, and breasts.

The news rocked the industry, and now as a response, both CBS and PBS have placed Charlie Rose on suspension.

It seems the house keeps falling in on Hollywood and the media; one could say that it's karma, or even the “Trump Curse”, as a result of the lies they pushed against him during the election.

"PBS was shocked to learn today of these deeply disturbing allegations. We are immediately suspending distribution of 'Charlie Rose,'” PBS said in a statement.

“We are deeply disturbed to learn of these allegations and are immediately suspending the show from airing on Bloomberg TV,” said CBS.

In the final piece of admission from Charlie Rose, he said, “I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate.”

Time will tell if more come forward, or if any legal repercussions come from these truths being exposed.

For now it seems, Charlie Rose's long-standing career is at its end.

Very good reporting. I was an exec. secretary/administrator all my life. I always told my bosses I am strictly business and didn't run into this problem of being with men who are in the shower, I did business in the office, and was highly respected.
