$9,000 Worth of Guns Now in Criminals Hands After Pawn Shop Burglary

Stolen guns were found on the streets in DeKalb County, after a pawn shop burglary.

Surveillance video shows thieves who appear to be young running through Candler Road Pawn Shop early Monday. The authorities said the thieves managed to get inside the shop by breaking the lock on the gates, smashing the glass in the door and crawling inside.

DeKalb police Lt. Brian DeLoach said they are suspecting that the thieves probably cased the location prior to going inside. He added: “That’s a viable lead that we are following right now.”

The police also said that one burglar jumped the counter to the back wall where the assault rifles were located while another burglar smashed the glass case where the handguns were placed.

The authorities pegged the value of the stolen guns, as well as some electronics, at $9,000.

The authorities expressed concerns on the incident because of the dangers the theft may further cause. DeLoach said: “Anytime you have individuals with weapons that are not supposed to have them and possibly with criminal records themselves, we know nothing good is going to happen from having those in their hands.”

The authorities also shared that there was a similar robbery at the shop earlier this year, but they do not think the cases are connected.
