Spanish public opinion and the countrywide press is furious over the judicial proceedings in the ‘Wolf Pack’ gang rape which they see as "patriarchal justice."
The case involves the gang rape by five men of an 18-year-old woman during Pamplona's San Fermín bull-running festival in 2016.
The judge in question has been heavily criticized for allowing evidence to be presented about the alleged victim's personal life and character, while not permitting the inclusion of texted conversations on Whatsapp between the accused men in which they discussed plans to rape women.

For those unfamiliar with the circumstances, the San Fermín festival is the ultimate manhood test where bulls are being allowed in the streets of Pamplona and men run for their lives in front of them. Every year, several people are wounded and even some deaths have been reported.
There is a lot of drinking going on and certainly, for groups of Spanish university men, this is the thing do to at least once in their lifetime.
A WhatsApp group called "La manada", or "wolf pack" to which the accused men belonged stated that they already planned during their journey from Seville (south of Spain) to Pamplona (north of Spain) mention the need to procure date rape drugs and ropes "because when we get there, we'll want to rape everything we set eyes on.”

Video of the late-night encounter between the men and the young woman from Madrid show how they wandered the streets among other drunken party-goers before two of the men led her into the basement block of flats by the hand.
The five men then surrounded the teenager in a small alcove, removed her clothes and had unprotected penetrative sex. They sent WhatsApp messages to friends celebrating the sex act and shared videos they took on their phones.
The girl kept a "passive or neutral" attitude throughout the scene, keeping her eyes closed at all times.
"I just wanted it to finish as soon as possible," she stated on the witness stand.
