After it was explosively revealed yesterday that Matt Lauer, one of the most known US television faces was fired with immediate effect from his position at NBC. after a career that spans well over two decades, the details came rolling in, and they are astonishing indeed for anyone who ever watched Lauer on screen.
If all of these allegations are true, there is, in my opinion, no way NBC did not know.

Firstly, a married NBC staffer woke up in Mr Lauer’s office with her pants halfway down her legs, having had sex with him until she passed out. The encounter took place in 2001, and the woman had to see a nurse afterward. The advances had started in the 1990s already. At a certain point, she was called into Lauer’s office and he pushed a button underneath his desk to lock the door automatically.
The NBC anchor then came from behind his desk, bent her over a chair and had sex with her till she passed out.
The woman said she ‘felt helpless and didn’t want to lose her job.’

Lauer also had sex toys in the office and sent many inappropriate messages to several female staffers (including lewd messages and revealing pictures of himself).
The reason for the quick dismissal is that the latest revelations come on top of complaints made against him over his approaching of a young staffer during the NBC coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. The continuation of that behavior towards that staffer, according to NBC, “showed incontrovertible proof of inappropriate sexual behavior on his part.”
Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann says he was not surprised at all, tweeting: “Matt Lauer was remorsely vindictive and tyrannical to everyone at NBC News and management repeatedly enabled him and buried the issue.”
Most of the unnamed women said Lauer would make most of his moves during the Olympic coverage.
Variety reporter Ramin Setoodeh said: “Lauer would invite women employed by NBC late at night to his hotel room while covering the Olympics in various cities over the years. He later told colleagues how his wife had accompanied him to the London Olympics because she didn’t trust him to travel alone.”
