When actor James Franco was accepting his Golden Globe award on Sunday night, some Twitter users seized the opportunity to drag his name through the mud with accusations of sexual misconduct.
What even is 'sexual misconduct'? Is it anytime a guy tries to get laid and fails? Does any guy who ever hit on a girl who turned him down get labeled as a sexual abuser now? This #MeToo movement is way, way out of hand and white males are taking the brunt of the casualties.
After actress Ally Sheedy tweeted "James Franco just won. Please never ask me why I left the film/tv business", several other women came forward to tweet things like "Cute #TIMESUP pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17-year-old?"

I wonder why Sheedy later deleted the Tweets? Hm.. it couldn't be because her implications were false and she was lashing out at someone who never did anything to her, could it?

As for the other allegations of 'forcing a girl's head toward his exposed penis', a little investigation into this user's Twitter account reveals sexist and outright disturbing tweets. Twitter user 'Violet Paley' previously tweeted demeaning and sexually objectifying things about Prince Harry but that's OK because he too is a white male!
It is amazing how these people are so eager to call out Franco for allegedly flirting with a 17-year-old on social media, yet they have no problem and aren't outraged over the hundreds of child marriages in the US each year. Very real harm is coming to girls forced to marry in the name of religion and outdated state laws at ages as young as 13, yet no one is up in arms and outraged about this?
Oh yeah, you didn't know child marriage is <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2017/08/30/547072368/a-look-at-the-loopholes-that-allow-child-marriage-in-the-u-s">legal</a> in the U.S.? Well, that's because nobody cares and it doesn't get covered in the mainstream media.
Stop pretending to care about so-called 'victims' of Franco's flirting, it's beyond ridiculous and has turned into an outright witch hunt targeting white males. Now, because of nobody's on Twitter dragging his name through the mud, The New York Times canceled an event scheduled with Franco.
Good job Twitter. Instead of caring about the very real victims out there you've managed to smear a man's name through the mud and affect his livelihood. 'Yay! We won! We got a white male's business engagement canceled over a few tweets, most of which are outright lies and were later deleted'.
Soon, white males won't even be allowed to hit on women and it will be a crime to even look at their bodies. I know this is a big ask, but let's try to get the focus of the #MeToo movement back onto real victims of rape and actual sexual abuse.
