It’s unfortunate that the former U.S. President Barack Obama was just named the 2017 recipient of the John F. Kennedy Profile Award, the award is the most prestigious for public servants. This begs the question as to why Obama, after his eight years of treasonous presidency managed to receive the award. The award is named after the JFK’s 1957 book, Profiles in Courage, it is awarded annually by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation to public servants who have made courageous decisions of conscience without regard for personal or professional consequences.
The former president will receive this award although he does not deserve it. There are numerous public servants who’ve done better than Obama. In what appeared to be a purely biased statement, Schlossberg said that Obama embodied the definition of courage that JFK cities in the opening lines of ‘Profiles of Courage’: grace under pressure. Unfortunately, Obama never represented Americans with decency, integrity, and an unshakable commitment to the greater good.
Obama is being recognized for the exact opposite of what he did during his tenure, he showed no commitment to democratic ideals and his administration degraded the standard of political courage.
It’s without a doubt that Obama should be the last person to be considered for the JFK award. However, this makes one pause for a moment and ask themselves why the unspoken legacy full of war, military adventurism, surveillance, and indiscriminate drone bombings of Middle Eastern and African people is not part of the considerations taken into account before Obama, who has proven to be a traitor, was awarded the prestigious award.
The JFK Profile in Courage Award is indeed a joke since Obama has never been a true supporter of democracy, liberty, or even peace. He completely failed to honor his promise to close Guantanamo Bay prison, he ended up being the first president in the U.S. history to be at war for the entire eight years of his presidency, averaging a whopping 72 bombs a day dropped in foreign countries.
Obama had a schedule every Tuesday in which he personally selected those who would be murdered by mostly hellfire missiles fired from drones. Funerals, weddings, shepherds were attacked along with those who attempted to collect the body parts. It’s is estimated that Obama’s drones killed 4,700 people.
The best achievement that Obama did during his tenure include destruction of Libya, financing coups in foreign nations, launching U.S. military intervention in Africa, advancing the international and domestic surveillance, unprecedented persecution of whistleblowers, and the great support of the Islamic Terrorist like ISIS and Al Qaeda.
War mongers don’t deserve peace prizes and Presidents who leave behind a legacy of imperialism and warfare do not deserve to be honored with JFK awards. However, this is just a clear indication of the times we’re living in, organizations are engaging in superficiality and sycophancy as they choose to remain blind in the presence of treasonous leaders such as Obama.
The day of the rope is coming and Obamas rope already has his name written all over it.
