In Italy this morning, a man driving a black Alfa Romeo fired from his car window at a group of young African migrants shortly after 11 am, injuring several of them.
A short while later, in a same incident in the city, another migrant and an African woman were also shot. It is not clear at this time how serious their injuries are or why the attacks took place.

The mayor of Macerata, located some 125 miles east of Rome urged his citizens to remain indoors.

The shooting took place two days after the body of an 18-year-old Italian woman was discovered cut up and hidden in two suitcases. A Nigerian migrant has been arrested in connection with the death, and some commented on social media that others might have been involved.

Police explained that the injured, which some Italian media reported as high as six, were being treated in a local hospital. They also admitted that all those targeted were foreigners and local reports said the victims were all ‘black African immigrants’.
Italy has parliamentary elections in a month’s time (4 March), with 2 anti-immigrant parties riding high in the polls, Matteo Salvini’s anti-immigrant Northern League (Lega Nord) and the right-wing Brothers of Italy.
