The tragic loss of two police officers in Westerville, Ohio shocked the country Saturday in a disturbing trend of people firing on police when they respond to domestic situations.
Earlier today, <a href="https://www.thegoldwater.com/news/18011-One-Officer-Killed-Two-Sheriff-s-Deputies-Shot-in-Henry-County-Georgia-Shootout">a Sheriff's deputy was killed in Georgia</a> while delivering an arrest warrant after the suspect opened fire. The tragic news even prompted a response from President Trump who tweeted, "My thoughts and prayers are with the two police officers, their families, and everybody at the @WestervillePD."
Morbitzer said the officers were responding to a "potential domestic situation" and were fired on as soon as they entered the building on Crosswind Drive. "The officers gave their lives in defense of others," Morbitzer said as he referred to the pair as "true American heroes."

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
"These were two of the best we had," Morbitzer said. "This was their calling and they did it right, they knew how to do policing the right way, both of them."
