The elderly driver was partially trapped under his own truck. Witnesses and other drivers helped to lift the vehicle in order to free the man trapped underneath his truck.
The elderly man was driving in the eastbound lane of Loop 410 before the incident occurred. Police think the victim may have crashed after he drifted and overcorrected.
The victim’s truck crashed over the median into oncoming traffic, rolling and then sliding about 75 yards before finally stopping on its side.
The other drivers’ collective action and help were crucial in helping the elderly man get out from under his vehicle. He was then airlifted to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
