Once again, Catalonia’s independence movement is in the European press as King Felipe of Spain intends to visit the Barcelona 3GSM Congress, a conference in a major exhibition hall held yearly where all mobile phone operators present their newest gadgets.
Of course, before the King can come to Barcelona, the Spanish riot police had to ‘sweep the streets’ of any protesters wanting to show flags of the Catalonian independence movement, as the Spanish media does not want to show those images.

This proved rather difficult as a great crowd of protesters was dispersed in small groups all over the city, asking for the release of their political leaders and waving the Catalonian independence flags.

As you can see from the attached videos, the call for independence is still alive and well in Barcelona even though the Spanish government in Madrid so far refuses to name a successor for the exiled former Catalonian Prime Minister, Mr. Carles Puigdemont, who has fled to Belgium, as he faces arrest upon returning to Spain.

His pro-independence party is the only one capable of forming a new government though, leaving the situation for the region in deadlock.
